Summer Bruce Museum




 

July Summer Vacation Workshops: 

Into the Deep Sea

Tuesday, July 22 through Friday, July 25, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

 

A series of hands on workshops for students in grades 1 - 3, who will explore  the exhibition Extreme Habitats:  Into the Deep Sea, and then create their own versions of animals that live in the deep sea!

 

Members $5, non-members $8, per child, per day, includes all materials.  Please make reservations by calling the Museum at 203-869-0376.


  The Bruce Museum Seaside Center 

is Open!



The Bruce Museum's Seaside Center, part of the Floren Family Environmental Center in the newly restored Innis Arden Cottage, is now open for the season. 

Drop in and try our fun, family-friendly activities, available daily.  No reservations are necessary, and there is no admission fee for the Center. However, you do need a Beach Pass to enter Greenwich Point Park, where the Seaside Center is located.  See the Town of Greenwich website for Beach Pass information.

 

The Seaside Center is open to the public Tuesday - Sunday, 11 a.m.- 5 p.m., and closed Mondays.

Wonderful World of Butterflies

presented by Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory & Garden

At Floren Family Environmental Center at Innis Arden Cottage

(in the same building as the Seaside Center)

 

See up to 30 live butterflies up close along with exotic insects such as: Prickly Devils and Jungle Nymphs.  You will be able to hold and touch several of the exotic insects. Learn how to start your own butterfly garden!

A New Acquisition for the Bruce!

As a culmination to the exhibition Pasture to Pond:  Connecticut Impressionism and its associated programming, and thanks to a generous grant from Connecticut Office of the Arts, the Bruce Museum has acquired a landscape painting for the permanent collection by master wildlife and landscape artist Sean Murtha.  The painting, May Moonrise, Davis Pond, was commissioned by the Bruce and was unveiled at the Museum's Annual Meeting last evening.
