Please note that the Bruce Museum is offering free admission every day while we are installing our
Northern Baroque Splendor
exhibition, which will be displayed across multiple galleries beginning Saturday, September 20.
 So from now through the 19th, come on in and bring your friends for free!
Into The Deep Sea in the Science Gallery and Roz Chast in the Lecture Gallery are available for your enjoyment, as well as our permanent exhibitions and, of course, our Museum store.
Also please note that the Museum is now open on Sundays beginning at 10 am.

Centennial of an Extinction: Remembering the Passenger Pigeon

Commemorate the 100th anniversary of the passing of Martha, the last Passenger Pigeon. 

 

Dr. Daniel Ksepka, Bruce Museum Curator of Science, will talk about the passenger pigeon and other recently extinct bird species. 


The program is for all ages and is held at the Bruce Museum Seaside Center at Greenwich Point Park, Old Greenwich. Additional activities include making an origami passenger pigeon and scanning the skies to learn about the wild birds at Greenwich Point.

Dr. Daniel Ksepka, Curator of Science at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, CT, studies the skull of Pelagornis sandersi, World's Largest-Ever Flying Bird.

Next Tuesday evening at the Bruce Museum, Dr. Daniel Ksepka, our new Curator of Science, will be discussing his ground-breaking research on the fossilized remains of an extinct giant bird with the largest wingspan of any bird ever to have lived.  In case you missed it, this was very big news in the science world, covered by almost every major news source worldwide earlier this summer.  See The Wall Street Journal for the story, or watch their video, which features Dr. Ksepka.

Look and See: Into the Deep

A program especially designed for children ages 3-5 years and their adult caregivers, who will explore the Museum's exhibition through hands-on experiences and stories, and then make their own deep sea creature!
